Zen Training

Leadership and Zen

la leadership e lo zen “The wheel turns, but the hub which allows the movement remains immobile. And therefore, anyone who has the job of co-ordinating people, structures, resources or events, should know how to make themselves still if they want to be the real hub of the wheel and allow it to move. They must find their own centre to become a centre.” (Vittoria Mascherpa “Managing Zen”, ed. Positive Press).

Capacity of vision, calmness and clarity, inner force, intuition and empathy…all the abilities requested of modern leaders, which can be reinforced by the practises of Zen meditation.

Strategy and potency in Chinese thoughts

Strategia ed efficacia nel pensiero cineseRecognising the potential in situations: the strategies of I Ching, the Book of changes

“Everything changes, transforming into something else”. In the old arts of Chinese war, in the same way as the Ancient Greeks, that which counted for efficiency/strategy was the “potentiality of the situation”: the strategy is stimulated, beginning pragmatically in the middle of the situation which is in continuous mutation, and not from a crystallised predisposed plan. The strategy comes to be seen as the research of favourable factors from which to drag profit and through which the great strategy doesn’t project a plan, but discovers and individualises within the evolution of situations the elements which are favourable to make them grow.

The I Ching, the book of change, is above all a “manual of strategy”.
Learning to be efficient means stabilising the appropriate strategy, intended as a way of individualising the all-bearing factors of the situation by exploiting resources available at the moment, in the hic et nunc, in the universe.

Change: “The Ching”, the great book of changes

"I Ching" il grande libro dei MutamentiOpening to change is needed in modern businesses, and the essence of this book, which tries to rapidly take in the stimulus of change stimulated by context, by certain scenarios and by aligning yourself, subjectively with free will, so that one can be more in harmony with our own natures. A manager is a decisive pivot. The managers are the ones who, in the middle of the organisation, have the job of bringing the culture of change and spreading it.

Flexibility: Tai Chi Chuan-force, flexibility and balance

Flessibilita: Tai Chi Chuan - forza, flessibilita ed equilibrio Nothing in this world is sweeter than water; and yet nothing in this world erodes the hard more than water.
The weak overcomes the strong the soft overcomes the hard
All know it and no one practises it
Lao Tse dal "Tao Te Ching"

The practise of tai chi chuan tries to collect the innumerable implications and metaphors in respect to personal life, and also company life, as well as interpreting the professional life. In tai-chi-chuan, the movement is not expressed through muscular force, but with an internal force reached through balance and concentration. The harmonious movement, which is produced is not a simple dance, but rather a sighing of movement derived from martial arts: defence, grip, attack, and push. A perfect metaphor to represent the difference between western management and that of the orient: the first based on exterior force through direct action, communication, frantic activity; the second based on listening, the balance between action and non-action, lateral movement.

Negotiation: Tui-Shou-experimental relationships with one another

Tui-Shou - sperimentare la relazione con l'altroThis seminar utilizes the Tui Shou, an exercise for couples to take part in the psychophysical Chinese discipline of Tai Chi Chuan. People can work whether on their own reactions (emotional and behavioural) to aggressive attitude using passivity or aggressiveness, or on counterattacks pinpointing through the metaphor of the body the characteristics and advantages of assertive behaviour here defined, with the Taoist point of view, as the point of dynamic balance between passivity and aggressiveness. A training, which passes from the body and permits a true confrontation of the direct consequences of your own behaviour.

Efficiency: Zen and the principal of action and non-action

la leadershEfficienza: Lo Zen ed il principio di azione e non-azioneip e lo zenDefined as the “art of sitting quietly without doing anything”, Zen in reality, is based on efficiency and strategic power of action: from the world of martial art to that of finance and business directions. The base of Zen culture, in-fact, is the research of spontaneous perfection in every instant of life, in every gesture and every action. It signifies efficiency and potency, velocity and precision, maximum attention to details, and full attention to work, capacity to rest absolutely immobile and then to act in one instant, lucidity and objectivity in analysis, intuition.

Management of conflict: Kicontact for managers

Gestione del conflitto: Kicontact per manager “The aim of the Akido is to train the mind and the body, to form honest and sincere people.” Morihei Ueshiba

An original path of movement and communication which favours harmony between mind and body which makes innate creative vitality of the Ki available for the support of individual growth.

The Akido is a martial art, which educates us to confront threats without fear, with an open mind and certainty.

This course aims to make the potential energy of every team emerge; to create enthusiasm and actively involve the collaborators of every project; to prepare people to be more open, and to individualise sudden solutions in confrontation with conflict.
